3300 EXTEND Packages

For 4200/4400 testing systems

An EXTEND upgrade package modernizes your test frame with Instron's advanced 3300 digital electronics and safety standards. All older controls, recorders, and analog components are replaced with a new 3300 digital controller and advanced signal conditioning. Benefits include improved reliability, ease of use, data accuracy, and expandability for the future.

Standard 3300 package features include integrated closed-loop control and data acquisition electronics, crosshead extension and load measurement channels, and one-step self-identification, calibration and balance of load and strain. Optional strain channels (maximum 2) can be added to software based systems.

The 3300 upgrade is ideal for those operating in a QC environment, running standardized and general purpose mechanical tests. The 3300 EXTEND package is Instron’s affordable solution for upgrading 4200 and 4400 series instruments.

  • New TouchPanel ready interface port
  • New 3300 Controller Assembly
  • New mounting hardware and cables

5500 EXTEND Package

For 1120, 4400, 4500, and 6000 testing systems

The 5500 EXTEND Package upgrades your system with a premium electronics package that provides high accuracy, improved test control and simple cyclic and test profiling capability. The 5500 upgrade is a modular design that is easy to install and provides options such as additional strain cards, multi-channel data acquisition, and analog outputs. All old controls, recorders, and analog components are replaced with a new digital controller, advanced signal conditioning, a user handset, limit switch assembly, emergency stop button, and optical encoder. A computer running Instron´s Windows®based Bluehill® software is required for test control, data acquisition, and analysis. A new power amplifier is included with all 5500 EXTEND packages, except on 4500, 6000, and 4400 Series.

Standard Features

  • New user control panel with frequently used keys on load frame, including adjustable speed, jog, and specimen protect.
  • Digital crosshead drive system with fully variable speed control
  • Integrated digital closed-loop control and data acquisition electronics
  • Crosshead extension and load measurement channels (up to two additional channels may be needed)
  • Data Collection - 40 KHz sampling rate with 500 Hz synchronous data logging on up to four channels
