Overview
The Instron ® CEAST Modular Melt Flow Indexers measure, with great accuracy, the Melt Mass-Flow Rate (MFR) and the Melt Volume-Flow Rate (MVR), basic required data for thermoplastics quality control in the rheology field.
Features
- On-board keyboard for data input, test execution, temperature control, timing, lifting, cutting, data acquisition, calculation, and final reporting
- Data output displayed during test including MFI or MVR at each step, time of each step, total time, temperatures, piston position, as well as real time and position of test start
- Instant results on the on-board display and direct print-out of test report
- Enhanced models are capable of performing semi-automatic test cycles
- All calibration parameters can be edited using the keyboard or downloaded using the serial port and PC connection
- Modular concept allows to add features at any time, based on increasing needs
Range of Models
Base Model
- Performs tests according to ASTM D1238 and ISO 1133 Procedure A (Melt Mass-Flow Rate)
- Includes basic accessories, such as the interchangeable nozzle and cleaning tool
- Quick release toggle allows the nozzle to be removed from the barrel for full cleaning, avoiding troublesome build-up of residues
Enhanced Models
- Peforms tests according to ISO 1133 and ASTM D1238 Procedures A, B, and C (Melt Mass-Flow Rate and Melt Volume-Flow Rate)
- Three enhanced model options
- Fitted with a high-resolution digital encoder to measure piston displacement during testing, with up to 40 measurement points over the 30 mm piston travel. This ensures higher result accuracy, especially when testing fluid materials, reducing the possibility of errors and deviations in the test results
- Fitted with a digital encoder, as well as a weight lifting device, for automatic application of the test weights after selected time, suggested to reduce manual operations and with weights over 5 kg
- Fitted with a digital encoder, motorized lifting device, and automatic melt cutting device, to cut with high precision the extrudate at time or position-based steps, further reducing the need for manual operations and related mistakes during testing
