Description
W-E402 Series extensometers are ideally suited for testing anisotropic materials such as advanced composites as well as for general purpose tests such as determining Poisson’s ratio.
Principle of Operation
The signals from two axial sensors are averaged to provide a single output for axial strain and a third sensor is used for transverse measurement.
The extensometers use a unique design feature, whereby the knife edges remain parallel during displacement. This approach greatly reduces crosstalk between axes and allows use on round or flat specimens with equal ease. The parallel multiple-flexure design makes these units very durable and they may be left on the specimen past failure.
The extensometers are very easy to mount and feature integral springs that hold the unit on the test
