EN 397:2012 Compression Testing Industrial Safety Helmets
The compression testing of safety helmets is important in quantifying the protective capacity of the product. EN 397 specifies the physical and performance requirements, methods of test, and marking requirements for industrial safety helmets for general use in industry. Industrial safety helmets are intended primarily to provide protection to the wearer against falling objects and consequential brain injuries and/or skull fractures.
- Ensuring a compliant test method
- Ensuring a compliant test method - Bluehill® Universal is designed with the flexibility to properly comply with the method described in EN 397. The TestProfiler module allows the user to create the necessary ramps and holds to assess the lateral strength of the product. Bluehill Universal Expression Builder allows the user to easily create the custom calculations for maximum lateral deformation and residual lateral deformation, as required by the standard.
It is suggested to use a standard dual column tabletop frame in conjunction with 6-inch diameter compression platens.
Additionally, it's important to review EN 397 fully in order to completely understand the test setup, procedure, and results requirements.
5960 Dual Column Series are versatile universal testing instruments for mid-range testing up to 50 kN. They are commonly used for plastics, metals, rubber materials, automotive components, composites and non-ambient temperature applications.
